Software Engineer, Foundation Team

The Role

Work on the Foundations Integrations team as a Software Engineer to design and construct performant infrastructure that takes in data from several internal systems and aggregates it and exposes it in a coherent way for our external and internal users. Our Identity Resolution APIs are heavily relied on by our customers and the Foundation team builds the technology that tracks and makes sense of how people are using it.

 The Foundation team is primarily focussed on collecting usage data from our public APIs (how many times is an account calling an API endpoint, what types of data are they getting back, how to bill, etc). This team and systems that are being built are critical for the business to be able to run and recognize and properly account for revenue. In this role, you will be working closely with both the Data Platform (API) team and the DevOps team as you build the systems that power help keep track of the billions of requests coming from our APIs. What You’ll Do

  • Be a hungry-to-learn teammate on the Foundation and Integrations team
  • Help design, build, test, deploy and maintain systems using JVM based languages, focusing on Clojure and Java
  • Build performant streaming and batch pipelines to collect and aggregate usage and other customer information
  • Use Big Data Tools to process large amounts of data (Druid, HBase, Spark, Kafka, etc)
  • Assist to expose data and tools to internal teams through APIs and libraries
  • Apply best practices to ensure quality and security as you build
  • Work in a DevOps culture where you are empowered to use tools like Jenkins, Github, Spinnaker, and Kubernetes to deploy and run your software on AWS

Necessary Skills

  • Computer Science, or related degree; or equivalent years of experience
  • Good understanding and experience developing in the JVM
    • Experience with or desire to learn other JVM languages a plus (Clojure, Scala, etc)
  • Understanding of databases and some differences of each
  • Experience with a variety of databases  (SQL, NoSQL, In-Memory, Searchable, etc)
  • Familiarity with Linux and CLI scripting is a must
  • Git and AWS familiarity is a must
